The third Saturday of April each year is Record Store Day, a day where labels distribute special releases to record stores across the country.
Von’s record store manager said some of their special items are as rare as 1 in 500. Members of the community and beyond will be lined up outside of Von’s starting as early as 6 a.m. The store officially opens at 7:30 a.m. and if you want items like a boxed set of Cake or a live version of Death Cab for Cutie.
Live acts are also invited to the area. This year, Von’s will host the following bands every hour on the hour:
Charlie Hopper and Co.
Bo Jackson 5
Most are from Jurassic Pop, a local label. Listen to some of the music at their website here.
Plus, if you haven’t seen them, Maps and Atlases will be performing at the West Lafayette library amphitheater between 4 and 9 p.m. This song is my favorite:
Come out for the deals and the great music all day long. Music starts at 11 a.m. and goes until 8 p.m.
